AWAY DAYZ
Contact the branch for match day travel and ticket arrangements.
We arrange group travel to games, discounted group train tickets, car sharing or mini bus hire, we don't care how we get there. And getting back sometimes leads to unexpected occurences. It all takes a bit of effort to arrange, so don't leave it to the last minute. Send webmaster your entries to the City Top 10 away dayz chart. Away Dayz Top 10
Of course being based in the south, a home game counts as an away game to us, so the same rules apply.
For home games, Ray Goodearl usually organises a car share starting from the Northampton M1 services. Contact him for seat availability. We've even been known to run a convoy for the big games. Anyway, why travel back from York in silence and abject misery when you can share the experience and half the pain. And, just imagine, how much more fun it is traveling back in a car load of City supporters celebrating a victory. Imagine, it might happen one day.
Being an established Supporters Club branch, we're in a position to find out ticket details for those big games and can sometimes order and distribute tickets through the branch saving all that nasty queuing, phone calls and extra expense in obtaining big (I wish) match tickets.
Sunday September 30 / Oxford. The village of Sandford-on-Thames is about 20 minutes walk from Oxford's ground. There are two pubs within a 100 yards of each other, the better of the two is called The Fox on the right hand side if you are heading North, however, the other one runs a free minibus to the football ground.
Saturday October 13 / Woking. Another beer desert. There is a snooker club next to the ground and they have a reasonable bar, to gain access buzz the button on the door and it will be opened for you. When we went there last year there were only a couple of people in there who weren’t supporting York.
Watch out for further meeting points (pubs to you and me) coming soon.
I've heard good things about Liftshare which does as it says on the tin.
Email Alastair for more details.
Trying to arrange travel to a City game home or away, got a spare seat ,want a lift, want someone to go with, then email Webmaster and I'll put something on this page.
Oh, a word of advice, if you're taking a new girlfriend to an away game, make sure she's well trained first. Naturally, Top Totty Tilly saw her first game when we won at Old Trafford. Her next game was at Colchester on a cold friday night, she eventually got to the front of the half time refreshment queue where she ordered, "a pot of tea for 2 please", boyfriend cringed, disowned her and promptly set about changing her status as girlfriend.
