City Awards

In 1974, York City first presented a Player Of The Season award. It was named in memory of Billy Fenton, a star of of our 1954/5 FA Cup team and was presented by Margo, his widow. The first recipient, Phil Burrows, immediately left the club.

More recently, there has been a raft of similar awards presented.

2003/4 Darren Dunning also received a Mont Blanc watch from Prestons and Duckworth as their player of the year
2002/3 – 1^st season awards not announced on pitch before game on last day of season.
The 1975/6 winner Mickey Cave has the Bournemouth player of the year trophy named after him.
Barry Jones became only the third York City player to lift the prestigious Billy Fenton Memorial Clubman of the Year Award for a second successive year. The injured defender followed in the footsteps of Gordon Staniforth and John MacPhail when he was presented with the trophy.
"Davitt Trophy". First presentation to Thompson by Christine Davitt, who donated the award in memory of her late husband, Gerry Davitt, a lifelong City fan and shareholder.

2016 Supporters' branch award winners included Femi Ilesanmi (Cliffe), Bradley Fewster (Harrogate) although most (including East Riding) were awarded to Dave Winfield.

Keith Walwyn Memorial Golden Boot award (season's top scorer): 2021/2: Clayton Donaldson; 2014/5: Jake Hyde; 2013/4: Wes Fletcher; 2009/10 (sponsored by Andy Wood, presented by City Manager Martin Foyle): Richard Brodie. Brodie, the delighted England ‘C’ international said afterwards, “It’s a massive honour for your team-mates to recognise what you do. I would not have scored the goals without the rest of the players though, and I think a lot of them could have won the award".
