A View From The South Stand
16/Aug/2008 (Histon) - Shirley Pilmoor
When Dot, our secretary at York City South asked me if Iíd write a review of myself and Hyla Campbellís day of manning the YCS Stand at the open day of the 13th of July, all I had going round in my head was Lou Reedís "Perfect Day". I realised that as certain songs are the soundtrack to my life, then YCFC must be the movie, so this is my compilation album in which I get to name check and say thanks to certain people (and thanks to Lewis Outing for the pic).
So thanks to:
Nick Bassett for all the hard work he puts into YCFC and for his recognising smile that, no matter of where we are playing, always makes me feel at home. "Thank you, thank you".
Elliot Stroud for pointing me in the right direction as far as prizes go. If prizes were points, we would be top of the league.
Nestle for providing a mountain of chocolate for our stand "Ainít no mountain high enough".
Tom Cliffe at Grand Central Trains for having the most romantic trains since the Orient Express, "Last train to Clarksville".
Amy Watson from Grand Central Trains for providing the first prize of two First Class Returns to London, "Glittering prize". And for drawing the winning tickets along with Richard ("Angel " of the North) Brodie.
Tony and Paula Pugh at Totoís restaurant for providing the second prize of a meal for two. Also to their wonderful staff who provide fantastic food and service and for helping with "Talking Italian Robert de Niroís waiting".
Graeme for his informative and entertaining tour of the club and for Chris Topping for bringing a lump to my throat and a tear to my eye.
Jorvik Reds for their youthful vocal passion and support "Cum on feel the noize".
My mother "Mamma" for providing a place I still call home.
"Congratulations" to Dan Hickey and Liam Pullin for winning first and second prize from the Tombola Draw for their Mum and Foster Mum "If the kids are united".
Special thanks to all YCS members who contributed towards the day (especially Hyla) "My best friend".
And finally to all YCFC fans and the community of York who supported us "Look what youíve done today to make me feel proud"
